Wisconsin Turfgrass Research Sustainability Fund

Overview

The donor wishes to offer financial support to the faculty and staff of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison involved in the turfgrass sciences. Both interest income and principal of the Fund shall be utilized by faculty and staff involved in research, educational and outreach programming related only to turfgrass. A Fund Committee consisting of College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) faculty and staff, and appropriate representatives of the Wisconsin Turfgrass Association (WTA) shall jointly decide determination of expenditures. CALS faculty and staff would be those individuals from the departments of Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Soil Science, involved in turfgrass research, education and outreach. It would also include the superintendent of the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility. WTA Fund Committee representatives would include WTA board members and/or officers appointed to such by the WTA president. No spending decision will be final until all Fund Committee members have cast a vote. A two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the WTA Fund Committee is needed to approve proposed expenditures. The WTA will direct and distribute all expenditures approved by the Fund Committee from the Foundation to individual departments listed above to be used by the turf faculty for the purposes approved by the Fund Committee. All funds distributed to these departments shall be used only for turf programming; no funds shall be diverted for indirect costs, administrative use or other non-turf programming. The Fund Committee will meet at least once a year to review the fund. Uses of the Fund shall include, but not be limited to the support of research assistants, equipment and supplies necessary for turfgrass research, educational or outreach programming, faculty position support and improvements to the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility.

Whatever needs the Fund Committee determines are critical to the success of the turfgrass program may be supported by this fund.
